Ky Colquhoun, also known as Sonny Mac, is an Australian artist working on Darumbal Country on the east coast of Queensland. Her practice explores identity, endurance, and cultural memory through contemporary portraiture and gilded mark-making.
Drawing from photographic studies of people, landscapes, and lived experience, Ky develops each work through layered watercolour, ink, and gestural intervention before introducing subtle digital refinement. The resulting works hold a distinctly textured visual language that sits between abstraction and portraiture.
Her series GILDED examines the quiet authority carried within identity, using gold not as ornament but as emphasis — illuminating gesture, lineage, and presence within the body. Ky's work is held in private collections and has been exhibited internationally through design showcases in Paris and Las Vegas.
She lives and works in Yeppoon, Queensland.
